Student-Mentor Lunch
Online Registration and Meeting Information
Deadline to sign-up for Student-Mentor Lunch: January 8, 2025
The Student-Mentor Lunch will take place on Thursday, February 20 during the lunch break. Students may sign up for the student-mentor lunch during online registration. Students will be paired with a professional based on career preferences and interests. Students and mentors will be contacted with further instructions closer to the meeting date.

Deadline to submit form: December 13, 2024
We are seeking student volunteers for the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Southern Division of the American Fisheries Society in Asheville, NC, February 18-21, 2024. Possible job responsibilities including AV assistance, silent auction booth assistance, registration desk support and poster set up. Volunteers will not be asked to work the entire meeting.
In return, volunteers will receive complementary lodging for the duration of the meeting, with two people per hotel room. Students will be selected based on need. You will be required to enter information about your academic advisor in case we need to contact them to confirm the information you submit.

Best Student Oral Presentation & Best Student Poster
Students may submit oral presentations to compete in the Student Competition Symposium and poster presentations to compete in the Best Student Poster Competition during online registration. Students are also able to submit abstracts for other symposia or general sessions if they do not wish to compete. Guidelines for posters will be posted here and will be sent out to all student poster registrants.
Student Awards will be announced at the Grand Social on Thursday, February 20, 2025.
Getting Hired or Finding Graduate Schools Workshop

Prerequisites: Bring hard copies of resume or cover letters for review.
Description:
We will cover multiple topics relevant to students that are seeking to make employment connections, structure their job-seeking materials, and the right fit for a career in fisheries and aquatic sciences. Included in this workshop are hints and skill building for introductions and networking; review of CV, resumes and cover letters; different kinds of job in the field, preparing for the interview; and what skills employers are looking for in fisheries graduates. We will use the whole day for the workshop to provide ample time for discussion, personal review of resumes, and role-playing interviews.
