NCAFS 2025 Officer Candidates

Vote at bottom of page after reviewing candidate statements.  You MUST (a) be an NCAFS member in good standing and (b) include your name for membership verification, in order for your vote to count.  Poll closes at midnight on 7 May 2025.
Results will be announced at the 2025 NCAFS Business Meeting.

Seth Mycko
District 5 Fisheries Biologist
NCWRC, NC


Seth has been with the Wildlife Resources Commission since 2017. First as District 5 Biologist I and currently as Biologist II in the same district. He has been involved with routine sport fish surveys within the Piedmont Region as well as helped with research projects at Lake Norman and Falls Lake. Seth is also the Commission’s “Bass Fishing Biologists” using that platform to not only relate to but educate bass anglers and other constituents about WRC’s conservation projects. He has been the Chair of the NCAFS Education and Outreach Committee since 2019. In that role, he has managed A/V equipment at meetings and helped organize the continuing education workshops. He has also helped with screen-recordings and kept a database of symposia presentation for the chapter members to use. Seth was also involved in coordinating contracts with the A/V company during the SDAFS meeting in Asheville. He also helped at the Southern Division meeting to aid presenters in uploading files and got them to correct rooms for the symposia presentations. Seth is avid bass fishermen who participates in competitive fishing tournaments in the Raleigh area. He and his wife, Elizabeth, live with their dog and cat in Liberty, NC near Greensboro.

Kyle Rachels
District 4 Fisheries Biologist
NCWRC, NC


Kyle Rachels is a fisheries biologist with the NC Wildlife Resources Commission. For 11 years, he has worked with a great team that focuses on conservation and management of anadromous and sport fish populations in coastal North Carolina.

A native of southeastern North Carolina, Kyle received his B.S. in Fisheries, Wildlife, and Conservation Biology from NC State University in 2010 and his M.S. in Aquaculture/Fisheries from the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff in 2013. He has been a member of NCAFS since 2009, was president of the UAPB student subunit in 2012, and has been the NCAFS newsletter editor since 2019.

Outside of work, Kyle spends most of his time working on projects around the house and being involved in his daughter’s equestrian, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and lego club activities.
